Thailand's only Seve Ballesteros design is a real challenge
A fully integrated golf resort situated near Khao Yai National Park, Mountain Creek Golf Resort & Residences boasts a 27-hole golf course designed by Seve Ballesteros, making it Thailand's only golf course to have been crafted by the former world No.1 and five-time major champion. Spread across three nine-hole loops named for their natural surroundings (Highlands, Creek, and Valley), it's one of the best (and toughest!) courses in Khao Yai.
You'll need a combination of power, accuracy, and concentration to score well here. Hazards are strategically positioned throughout the course to ensnare shots from every angle, and thick jungle frames many of the holes, imposing a harsh penalty on anything off-line. The greens are also punishingly undulated, three-putts a regular feature.
Memorably, Seve left his mark on the par-3 3rd in the guise of the large bunker in the shape of an S. From the tee, the target is quite small with a patch of rocks guarding the front-left of the green and two more bunkers either side. Anything short and right will end up in Seve’s bunker, from where it's a fitting challenge to get up and down.
In terms of off-course amenities, Mountain Creek provides excellent facilities, such as practice areas, a pro shop, and locker rooms. The expansive clubhouse is the central hub of the golf club, as all three nines start and finish from this point.
Additionally, a small resort featuring other sports and spa facilities is also part of the Mountain Creek complex. Situated just 200 kilometers northeast of Bangkok, Mountain Creek is a fantastic option for golfers seeking a highly challenging golfing experience in Khao Yai.

Magnificent layout in very poor condition
When I arrived, the clubhouse was completely empty, and I only encountered one other group on the course. The course itself was in reasonable condition, but the greens were a notable issue—many were heavily sanded, showing signs of disease and clearly in need of significant maintenance. The layout is very challenging, with thick rough that punishes off-line shots, streams crossing the fairways, and dramatic elevation changes. This is not a course suited for high handicappers, who may find it more frustrating than enjoyable.Not up to scratch.
Sadly this is a case of what was once a magnificent course that has sadly not been kept up to acceptable condition. We were the only golfers of the day & it is clear that this course simply does not get the traffic to allow proper maintenance of the course. The layout was actually really good & when this course was new it must have been a magnificent course. Unfortunately the conditions around the holes was poor with much overgrown grass & evidence of neglect. The greens were simply not acceptable with sandy patches (not maintenance), blights & long grass....to the point where putting was not true on some lines & we were forced to lift our balls onto decent lies to allow putting. Unfortunately my recommendation would be to remove this course from the list of courses you use for the region as I fear many golfers would be very disappointed with their golf & this level of golf does not represent the expectation coming to the area.Almost no players on the day we played
