Situated in one of Thailand's most stunning locales, the 27 holes of Narai Hill Golf Resort and Country Club are meticulously crafted to blend seamlessly into their surroundings. It's a gently undulating and intriguing layout, and although it plays long from the back tees, at 7,357 yards, numerous tee boxes offer golfers of all levels with the opportunity to test their abilities.
One fascinating aspect of the course design is the inclusion of trees in the center of the fairways on several holes. Although they may present an obstacle for some golfers, most can navigate their way around them with ease, and the trees can serve as a great target line.
The course's defense system includes its extremely difficult Tifdwarf greens, whose grain makes reading the lines nearly impossible. However, relying on your caddy's expertise, should increase the odds of sinking more putts.
Several holes stand out, including the 558-yard, par-5 fifth, which doglegs around the lake. The green is reachable in two, tempting golfers to go for it, but they must negotiate a treacherous layup area protected by water and jungle.
Considered the toughest on the course, the par-4 13th requires accuracy off the tee and a precisely struck approach to reach the green, which is protected by a large water hazard to the front and left and a bunker to the right.
The picturesque 14th, at 194 yards from the black tees, is framed by a lake and trees to the left, a stream cutting across the fairway short of the green, and bunkers surrounding the green. Although the hole is stroke index 7 and thus relatively easy, a well-struck long iron or fairway wood is necessary to find the green.
The resort clubhouse is fully equipped to cater to golfers' needs before and after their rounds, with open-air bars for refreshments and international-themed restaurants serving the finest cuisine in the area. The resort boasts exceptional grass tee practice facilities that allow golfers to hone their skills during their stay.
Overall, Narai Hill Golf Resort and Country Club is well worth a visit. Although still relatively young, the course presents itself beautifully, with exceptional customer service and hospitality.
